Pretty Prompt is a tool developed by Dolphin AI Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 15579459), with its registered office in London, United Kingdom ("we," "us," or "our").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your data when you use the Pretty Prompt Chrome extension, our web application at pretty-prompt.com, and any related services (collectively, the "Service").

By installing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Chrome Extension

When you use the Pretty Prompt Chrome extension, we may collect the following data:

• Account information: Your email address when you sign in via Google OAuth or email-based authentication.
• Authentication data: Session tokens stored locally in your browser to keep you signed in.
• Prompt content: The text you submit for improvement, refinement, or saving, and the resulting output. Prompts you choose to save are stored in your prompt library. Prompt history may also be stored for signed-in users.
• Usage data: Prompt counts, subscription tier, feature usage, and whether you are a signed-in or anonymous user.
• Product analytics: Interaction events (such as button clicks and feature usage), extension version, and the hostname of the site you are on (for example, chatgpt.com or gemini.google.com).
• Error and diagnostic data: Error messages and stack traces to help us identify and fix issues.
• Anonymous identifier: A randomly generated ID assigned to users who are not signed in, used for analytics and usage limits.
• Preferences and settings: UI preferences such as button position, snooze state, blocklist entries, active team selection, and other extension settings stored locally.
• Side panel chat data: If you use the side panel chat feature, conversation messages may be stored locally in your browser.

1.2 Website

When you visit our website, we may collect:

• Account information: Email address and profile details when you create an account or sign in on the web app.
• Usage and analytics data: Pages visited, referral source, device and browser information, and interaction events via cookies and similar technologies.
• Affiliate referral data: If you arrive via a partner referral link, referral attribution data may be recorded.

1.3 Payment Information

If you purchase a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We receive your email address and subscription status from Stripe, but we do not store your full payment card details — those are handled directly by Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service, including generating optimized prompts.
• Authenticate your account and manage your session.
• Enforce usage limits and manage subscription tiers.
• Store and sync your saved prompts, folders, teams, and preferences.
• Monitor product usage and diagnose errors to improve reliability.
• Process payments and manage billing.
• Send transactional emails (such as welcome emails, billing confirmations, and team invites).
• Measure and improve our website and marketing campaigns.

We do not use your prompt content to train AI models. Prompt text is sent to third-party AI providers solely for real-time processing to deliver the Service, and is not used by us or those providers for model training purposes.

3. Third Parties We Share Data With

We share data with the following service providers solely to operate the Service. Each provider processes data according to its own privacy policy.

You may opt out of certain advertising and retention-related cookies by visiting https://app.retention.com/optout. You can also control cookies through your browser settings and Google's ad settings.

4. Where We Store Data

• Our servers (Supabase): Account data, prompts, prompt library, teams, and usage records are stored in Supabase-hosted databases.
• Your browser (Chrome extension): Session tokens, preferences, anonymous ID, draft prompts, side panel chat messages, and BYOK API keys are stored locally using Chrome's storage APIs.
• Analytics (PostHog): Usage events and error data are stored on PostHog's servers in the United States.

5. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
• Prompt history and library: Retained until you delete individual prompts or your account.
• Analytics data: Retained by PostHog according to our configured retention settings (typically up to 1 year).
• Local extension data: Stored in your browser until you uninstall the extension or clear extension storage.
• Payment records: Retained by Stripe as required for tax, accounting, and legal compliance.

6. Chrome Extension Permissions

The Pretty Prompt Chrome extension requests the following permissions:

• identity and identity.email — to authenticate you via Google OAuth and access your email address for account creation and sign-in.
• storage — to save your session, preferences, and extension settings locally in your browser.
• Host permissions — to inject the extension UI on supported AI platforms (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude) so we can read and improve the prompt text you are composing. We only access prompt input fields on these sites; we do not read your full browsing history or unrelated page content.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data while in transit and at rest, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our databases. However, as with any online service, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Export: Request an export of your saved prompts and account data.
• Objection: Object to certain processing, such as analytics.
• Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at team@getdolphin.ai. We will respond within 30 days. You may also uninstall the Chrome extension at any time, which removes locally stored extension data from your browser.

9. International Data Transfers

Dolphin AI Ltd. is based in the United Kingdom. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States, where several of our service providers (such as Supabase, PostHog, OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Stripe) are located. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data during international transfers.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
